Women Exceed Men in College Attendance
More women than men are attending college, with men lagging behind by almost 10 percentage points, concludes a report from the National Center for Education Statistics.
About 51 percent of women ages 18 to 24 were attending college in 2003, compared with 41 percent for males.
The report, for which researchers scrutinized data on college enrollment between 1974 and 2003, also found that all racial groups improved their rates of college participation over the past three decades, with the exception of Hispanic males.
