John C. Stocks has been named the deputy executive director of the National Education Association.
Mr. Stocks, 47, who will begin his new position Nov. 15, previously served as the director of the NEA’s Great Public Schools Action Plan, which lobbied federal lawmakers to make changes to the No Child Left Behind Act and to find more money to pay for the law’s requirements. In his new role, Mr. Stocks will help the NEA’s executive director and its president with special initiatives designed to improve the union.
The Washington-based NEA represents 2.7 million teachers, administrators, and student-teachers.
