Texas Opinion Delayed

Texas state officials expressed concern last week over news that state District Judge John Dietz’s order in the state’s school finance case may not come until next month. Judge Dietz ruled against the state’s school aid system Sept. 16, saying a formal order would be ready Oct. 1. A spokesman for Attorney General Greg Abbott said the state wanted to appeal immediately so that the state supreme court could rule in time for the 2005 legislative session.
