Colman Genn, a senior fellow with the Center for Educational Innovation-Public Education Association in New York City, died of respiratory failure on July 15. He was 68.
Mr. Genn was best known for working undercover to expose corruption on the school board of the city’s Community School District 27 in southeast Queens, where he was the superintendent, in 1989.
For the past 13 years, Mr. Genn was active in school improvement efforts in New York. He also helped bring the small-schools movement to districts across the United States, as well as to Chile and Israel.
