George J. Brown

George J. Brown has been elected to a one-year term as the president of the National Rural Education Association, based in Fort Collins, Colo. Mr. Brown, 63, is the deputy executive director of the Region 8 Education Service Center in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Joy Rosen is the new national education consultant for, an online learning, training, and communications company based in Minneapolis. She will be responsible for promoting Web-based and online learning to school districts nationwide and helping them use the company's products. Ms. Rosen has worked in educational technology for 14 years, including serving as a technology specialist for the Fulton County, Ga., schools.

Wright Group/McGraw-Hill has named Sari Factor its president. She will be responsible for expanding the K-12 publisher, which produces many elementary-literacy materials. She was previously vice president and general manager of Everyday Learning, a division of Tribune Education, which was acquired by McGraw-Hill in September. Ms. Factor, 42, will work out of the Wright Group offices in Bothell, Wash.

Patrick S. Hayashi

The College Board, the New York City-based education organization that sponsors the SAT college-entrance exam, has announced the election of Patrick S. Hayashi and John R. Curry as trustees.

John Curry

Mr. Hayashi is the associate president in the office of the president of the University of California. Mr. Curry is the executive vice president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
