A map that accompanied a story on Republican-controlled statehouses in the June 21 issue of Education Week incorrectly noted changes in the Virginia and South Carolina legislatures in last fall's elections. Virginia did not hold elections for state offices in 1994. In South Carolina, Republicans won control of the House.

An item in the Take Note column in the same issue misidentified one of two Seattle parents who have introduced a ballot initiative to reform schools in Washington State. He is Jim Spady.
