The oversight subcommittee of the House Committee on Economic and Educational Opportunities was to hold a hearing late last week on the troubled District of Columbia school system, focusing on proposals to use the district as a model for reform experiments.

The Education Department published in the May 8, 1995, Federal Register its semiannual agenda of regulations, outlining areas that are currently under regulatory review and listing scheduled dates for the publication of final rules. In addition, the department lists several principles it uses in deciding whether and how to regulate.
