Impact Aid
Deadline Extension

The Education Department published in the April 12 Federal Register a notice extending the application deadline for grants under sections 8002 and 8003 of the impact-aid program. The new deadline is May 8. While the department will accept applications for 60 days beyond that deadline, grants to districts applying late will be reduced by 10 percent.

Federal Grantee Procurement Final Rules

The Education Department, along with numerous other federal agencies, published a final rule in the April 19 Federal Register governing small purchases by federal-grant recipients, including state education agencies and school districts. The minimum purchase requiring the use of more complex procurement procedures increases from $25,000 to $100,000 on May 19.
