A photograph caption in the March 29 issue of Education Week that accompanied a story on school-finance cases in New York State could have been misinterpreted. Eleanor Roosevelt Intermediate School in New York City is part of Community School District 6, whose school board is a plaintiff in a lawsuit claiming the state’s school-funding system is unconstitutional.
But neither Eleanor Roosevelt nor any other individual school was cited in court documents as evidence that the funding system prevents schools from providing a sound education.
