Counselor Leads Senior Class To Another Perfect Score: Dr. J has slam dunked--again.

This spring, Paul Jankiewicz, a guidance counselor nicknamed “Dr. J’’ by his students at Poughkeepsie High School in New York, goaded every senior into applying to college. All 160 were accepted--for the second time in the 133-year history of the inner-city school.

The first time it happened four years ago, Mr. Jankiewicz shepherded the seniors through the college-application process, too.

Nomination: President Clinton last month formally nominated David S. Tatel, a Washington lawyer who has helped several urban school districts develop desegregation plans, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Mr. Tatel, 52, is a partner in the firm of Hogan & Hartson, which has one of the nation’s largest practices specializing in education.
