The school board of the Tucson (Ariz.) Unified School District has selected George F. Garcia, former superintendent of the Kansas City, Mo., school system, to be the district's next superintendent.

Mr. Garcia was selected May 2 from among four finalists that also included Robert Aguilar, superintendent of the Norwalk-La Mirada School District in Norwalk, Calif.; Frank R. Petruzielo, associate superintendent of the Dade County, Fla., schools; and James L. Pughsley, superintendent of the Monroe City Schools in Monroe, La.

Mr. Garcia will consult with the district for a month before beginning his job July 1. Details of his salary had not been worked out last week.
