One Superintendent's Attitude: Where Experimentation Begins

Although the changes at Larragoite Elementary School are exciting, the "big story'' in Santa Fe may be the "attitude of its superintendent,'' according to Sophie Sa, executive director of the Matsushita Foundation.

Edward A. Ortiz "really believes that the only way to change and improve education is by giving more time and responsibility to individual schools and the teachers within them,'' she said, "and he is doing everything he can to have the whole school system support that.''
