The Harvard Graduate School of Education, under a grant from the Association of American Publishers, is looking at the feasibility of developing a training program and a center for textbook research.
The training program, which would be housed in the Master of Education in Reading and Language program, would offer work and study experience in readability, reading comprehension, and writing to help students produce and evaluate instructional materials.
The proposed Center for Research on Textbooks would allow students to extend beyond the master's program their research on instructional materials, would provide training to graduate students in research, and would disseminate research findings to schools and publishers.
