Arts education. The National Foundation on the Arts and Humanities announced, in the June 1 Federal Register, a meeting of the Artists in Education Advisory Panel on June 24, 8:30 A.M.-6 P.M., in room 1426 and on June 25, 8:30 A.M.-5 P.M., in room 2202 of the Columbia Plaza Office Complex, 2401 E St., N.W., Washington. A portion of the June 25th meeting will be open to the public for a discussion of policy issues. Contact: John H. Community education. The Education Department announced, in the May 27 Federal Register, a meeting of the Community Education Advisory Council on June 14, 9 A.M.-4:30 P.M., and June 15, 9 A.M.-3 A.M., at the Portland Hilton, 921 S.W. 6th Ave., Portland, Ore. All sessions of the meeting are open to the public. The proposed agenda was also published. Education Department’s regulations agenda. The Education Department published, in the May 14 Federal Register, its semiannual regulations agenda and review list. This list provides brief descriptions of regulations being developed or reviewed by ed, so that the public may participate in the process. Contact: A. Excellence-in-education hearings. The Education Department announced, in the March 4 Federal Register, the dates of hearings before the National Commission on Excellence in Education. The hearings still to be held are scheduled for the following times and places:

--June 23, 8:30 A.M.-5:30 P.M., on admissions standards, Chicago.

--Sept. 16, 8:30 A.M.-5:30 P.M., on education and the student’s life work, Denver.

--Oct. 7, 8:30 A.M.-5:30 P.M., on gifted and talented students, Boston.

Indian education. The Education Department announced, in the May 27 Federal Register, a meeting of the National Advisory Council on Indian Education on June 16-18, 9 A.M.-5 P.M. at the Center for Indian Education, 302 Farmer Building, Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz. The meeting will be open to the public. The proposed agenda was also published. Contact: Michael P. School meal programs. The Education Department published, in the May 21 Federal Register, final regulations that amend the Nutrition Education and Training (net) program regulations, so that state agencies must submit report form fns-42 only once each year rather than four times.
