The Discovery Channel airs “The Infinite Voyage: The Search for Ancient Americans,’' a one-hour program that follows America’s first immigrants as they traveled eastward from Siberia to Alaska during the Ice Age. The Learning Channel presents “Food Pyramid,’' a onehour program that focuses on the latest thinking about how people should eat. Part of the channel’s Elementary School series, the segment examines how some common foods are cultivated, gathered, and prepared. The show begins at 4 a.m. (EST).

The Discovery Channel airs “Race to Save the Planet: Save the Earth, Feed the World,’' a 60-minute Assignment Discovery segment that touches on a number of environmental issues, ranging from population growth and soil erosion to deforestation and long-term climatic changes. The show airs at 9 a.m. (EST).

February 6.

The Learning Channel presents “Teaching the Diverse Classroom,’' a 30-minute Teacher TV program that examines the challenges of teaching students with wide-ranging cultural backgrounds, learning styles, abilities, and disabilities. The program begins at 6 p.m. (EST).

February 9.

PBS presents “Reflections on Elephants,’' a one-hour National Geographic Special that takes viewers into the bush of Botswana for an intimate look at some of the last wild, freeroaming elephants in southern Africa. Teachers may obtain a companion Resource Guide by contacting their local PBS stations. The program airs at 8 p.m. (EST), but check local listings.

February 10.

The Discovery Channel presents “The Spirit Travels: Immigrant Music in America,’' a one-hour Assignment Discovery segment hosted and narrated by Grammy Award-winning singer Linda Ronstadt. The show examines how various ethnic groups retain their cultural heritage through music. The program begins at 9 a.m. (EST).

February 27.

The Learning Channel airs “Student Health and WellBeing,’' a 30-minute Teacher TV program that looks at how drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, and AIDS are pushing schools to link up with local health clinics and develop AIDS-awareness curricula. The show begins at 6 p.m. (EST).
