If you’re looking for a way to keep up with what’s happening on the U.S. legislative front, consider checking out POPVOX.com, a non-partisan platform that enables individuals to communicate with Congress.

For instance, the site recently published a blog post called “Issue Spotlight: Parental Rights,”
which highlights current bills pending before Congress on this topic, as well as a joint resolution about a Constitutional Amendment on Parental Rights, and a Senate resolution in response to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Five “parental rights” bills are pending, including the Parental Consent Act of 2011 (H.R. 2769), which would prohibit the use of federal funds for any universal or mandatory mental health screening program.

Clicking through to any of the bills takes the reader to information about the bill and its:

  • Status
  • Sponsors and co-sponsors
  • Supporting organizations
  • Opposing organizations

On POPVOX, you can “vote” on whether you support or oppose the bill, then see whether your legislators are in alignment with your opinion. You can also easily share this information with your constituency, and tell Congress what you think about these bills.

There is no charge to use POPVOX.
