Btw, there’s a lot of talk going on out there about Rhee’s and Fenty’s low support among African Americans, and the fact that the vast majority of kids in DCPS are African American, as if parental anger at Rhee’s reforms is some kind of major force in driving support for Gray. This is a pile of dookey.
If you look at the City Paper‘s cool poll of D.C. voters, you will see that parents with children currently in DCPS are WAY more likely to support Fenty than Gray--62% of voters with children currently in DCPS support Fenty, as opposed to 36% for Gray. In fact, parents with kids in DCPS are more supportive of Fenty than any other group of voters by child relationship to DCPS. Parent rebellion or dislike for Rhee’s reforms is not the driving force behind opposition to Fenty.
