As a “charter” subscriber to Education Week, I would like to commend you for an excellent publication. I consider it the most informative, comprehensive, and objective of all similar publications.
However, I would like to encourage your reporters to be even more sensitive to the private sector. The latest example is an article on page 3 of the Sept. 15 issue entitled “N.Y. Bank Donates Funds for Principals.” Neither the headline nor the major portion of the article indicated that you were speaking only of public-school principals. It wasn’t until the last paragraph that it became clear that 30 percent of the high-school principals of New York City were being ignored, both by Education Week and the Chase Manhattan Bank. (There are 152 high schools in New York City; 42 of them are independent high schools and 110 are public high schools.)

A teacher-author in Century wrote of “taking role” in class.
Now this! [Education Week, Aug. 25, 1982: "... a turkey sandwich on a role. ...”]
But opportunities abound. My abridged dictionary provides more than 40 meanings/variations for “roll.”
What will be the next roll-reversal seen in print?
