Facing History and Ourselves is a terrific organization that uses deep historical investigations to inspire students to examine their own identity and choices and to choose to participate meaningfully in our democracy. In the fall, I’ll join them as their Director of Online Community, Research, and Practice, working to help them meet two ambitious goals of dramatically expanding our reach and updating our curriculum and professional development practices for a networked age.

Facing History is hiring a Program Associate for Online Community and Educator Support, a person who will work very closely with me in the years ahead. He or she will be responsible for helping nurture community online among our educators and stakeholders and to use online tools to support educators teaching with Facing History materials.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced history or ELA teacher, with a passion for social justice and the aims of Facing History, and rich experience nurturing community online. Ideally, this online community building experience would be with educators, but experiences such as forum moderator or Warcraft guild leader would be considered favorably as well. The candidate should be excited to tackle challenging problems, working with a high degree of autonomy, in a collaborative work environment. The position is in Brookline, MA, and we are unlikely to hire someone to work remotely.

Please share this position broadly with your networks and with anyone who may be interested.

The full job description is here, and applications will only be accepted at the Facing History website.
