- Three groups have recently staked out positions regarding flexibility in accountability requirements. The Council of Chief State School Officers issued a May 28 statement asking to hold current requirements steady for the next two academic years. The National Association of Elementary School Principals asked for “adequate time” to implement Common Core State Standards. The Chiefs for Change, however, oppose a moratorium on accountability requirements.
