The administrator of a $676,000 bequest to a private school in Virginia is seeking a court ruling on whether the school can accept the money even though it now admits black students, contrary to the donor’s wishes.

The will of Jack Adams, a former tobacconist from Lynchburg, Va., includes a provision stipulating that the money go to Prince Edward Academy in Farmville, Va., only on the condition that its student body remain all white.
