Early Intervention
Proposed Rules

The Education Department proposed new regulations for the early-intervention program for handicapped infants and toddlers, implementing changes made in the Individuals With Disabilities Act Amendments of 1991. The announcement was published in the May 1 Federal Register; comments are due June 30.

Grant Availability
Annual announcement

The Education Department published in the April 2 Federal Register a list of application deadlines for all its competitive grant and fellowship programs. The agency has decided to publish an updated list annually.

Legislative Action

FY 1993 Budget

The House Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee last week heard testimony on the impact-aid program. Meanwhile, House and Senate conferees began work on a budget resolution.
