Comment Period
The Education Department has extended from Dec. 18 to Jan. 26 the deadline for public comment on proposed rules for the state-administered program. The regulations were published in the Oct. 17 edition of the Federal Register.

Regional meeting schedule
The Education Department has announced that it has selected locations for eight regional meetings to permit public discusssion of new program-improvement requirements for the remedial-education program. The notice appears in the Jan. 8 edition of the Federal Register.
Auditors
The Education Department has announced that it intends to implement a new record-keeping system to keep track of non-federal auditors who have been cited “for violations of auditing standards.” The notice was published in the Jan. 5 edition of the Federal Register.
Lobbying Regulations
The Office of Management and Budget has issued new rules that prohibit recipients of federal funds from lobbying for government grants, contracts, and loans. The regulations also require applicants and grantmakers to report lobbying activities, even if such activities are paid for with other funds. A public-comment period closes on Feb. 18. The rules were published in the Dec. 20 Federal Register.
