Members of the House and Senate Labor, Health and Haman Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittees met last week to resolve differences in their fiscal year 1992 spending bills.

The House Education and Labor Committee last week approved legislation that would give states and school districts federal seed money to launch a variety of education reforms, after a contentious debate on school choice, Presidential Address The House Education and Labor Committee last week held a hearing examining the Education Department’s expenditure of $26,740 to film and televise a speech by President Bush on education, Secretary of Education Lamar Alexander testified on behalf of the Administration.

Final Regulations
The Education Department in the Oct. 11 Federal Register issued final regulations for the Services for Children with DeafBlindness Program, incorporating legislative changes to the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act.

Funding Priorities
The Education Department in the Oct. 15 Federal Register issued a notice of proposed funding priorities for fiscal years 1992 and 1993 for programs assisting children and youths with disabilities.
