President Reagan has formally asked the Congress to approve two nominees for top posts in the Education Department. As expected, Mr. Reagan nominated LeGree Daniels, a Pennsylvania state official, to be the department’s assistant secretary for civil rights, and Bonnie Guiton, a member of the Postal Rate Commission, to head the office of adult and vocational education.
Ms. Daniels is Pennsylvania’s deputy secretary of state and is a former chairman of the National Black Republican Council. She also served as chairman of Blacks for ReaganBush, which campaigned for the President’s re-election in 1984.
Ms. Guiton, who has been a member of the postal commission since 1984, is a former vice president of Kaiser Center Inc., a California-based real-estate development company. Before joining Kaiser, she was assistant dean of students at Mills College in Oakland, Calif.--B.M.
