I admire Mr. Starky [“The Unsinkable Stu Starky,” October 2004]; I sincerely hope he wins. I appreciated your thorough profile of this modern Don Quixote. The language in the first column on page 31, however, was absolutely unnecessary. Someone at that rally might have chosen to use that word. Your reporter might even have gotten a thrill from hearing it at a political rally, but it need not be reproduced in your magazine. Mr. Starky had the good sense to resist using it. It is too bad the same cannot be said for Mr. Cech.
