Based in Washington, D.C., the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life seeks to promote a deeper understanding of how religion shapes the ideas and institutions of American society. Through its clearinghouse function, the Forum reports on the role of religion in public affairs and on the role of public affairs in religion. It initiates new survey work, and commissions and publishes new scholarship in this field. The Forum is supported by The Pew Charitable Trusts through a grant to Georgetown University.
