Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund was founded in San Antonio, Texas, in 1968. Today, MALDEF is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to protect and promote the civil rights of the over 26 million Latinos living in the United States. The organization achieves its objectives through litigation, advocacy, community education, collaboration with other groups and individuals, and scholarship awards.
