Limited-English-Proficient students

Students enrolled in U.S. schools who speak a language other than English and haven't yet mastered English. They are also known as English-language learners. They are either immigrants or children born in the United States. Each state has a different way of ascertaining whether a child is limited-English-proficient. Usually such students receive bilingual education or English-as-a-second-language services.
