Challenger School, a middle school in Fremont, Calif., recently won the 2008 U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl, a contest designed to encourage students to excel and pursue careers in math and science. Second and third place honors went to Hopkins Junior High School in Fremont, Calif., and St. Andrews Episcopal School in Amarillo, Texas, respectively.
