The University of Denver’s Morgridge College of Education has awarded the 2008 Leaders in Learning Award to Shirley Miles, the associate director for education at the Department of Defense Education Activity, the Arlington, Va.-based branch of the federal government that provides education for the military community. The annual award, which recognizes alumni who have had success in their fields and demonstrated professional achievement, honored Ms. Miles for her leadership in education and her work to support and promote education among Native American students in Denver and the surrounding area.
