Teaching Advancement Award

The Milken Foundation, a Santa Monica, Calif.-based philanthropy that supports excellence in teaching, has awarded the Teacher Advancement Program Founder’s Award to Forest Hill Elementary in Rapides Parish, La., in recognition of the school’s work to offer professional development for its teachers. The school received a $50,000 cash prize to assist in implementing parts of the TAP program, which seeks to improve teaching recruitment and retention.
