G = Graded; U = Ungraded. 2Education Week used the most recently available school report cards in each state as of Oct. 22, 2004. Please see the Sources and Notes for report card years by state. 4State has separate school report cards and No Child Left Behind Act report cards with accountability data. Data are on No Child Left Behind report cards only. 8Washington state and New Hampshire make disaggregated data available through other published reports and are not included in the U.S. total. 9Column refers to states that use additional information to rate schools beyond that required by federal law for AYP, or that apply a separate rating to schools statewide in addition to AYP ratings. For example, a state may have a method of assigning letter grades to schools based on the schools' performance on statewide tests, or may require that schools meet criteria in addition to meeting AYP in order to receive high ratings. 10Ratings based on state-developed criteria are assigned biennially. | |||||
