StoryCorps, a national non-profit oral history project, is recording, sharing, and preserving teachers' stories through its National Teachers Initiative, which launched September 19, 2011. StoryCorps, an Education Week content partner, hopes to call attention to the contributions teachers have made to this nation.

'More Than a Job'
After Tyrese Graham's first day as a teacher, he wasn't sure he had made the right career choice. At John Marshall Metropolitan High School on the West Side of Chicago, Graham has had to overcome obstacles he never anticipated, including the death of a student.
