Sharon P. Robinson, the president and CEO of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, will retire next July.

Robinson, who started her career as a classroom teacher, previously served as an assistant secretary for the U.S. Department of Education. She also held posts with the Educational Testing Service and the National Education Association.

She will step down after more than a decade leading the AACTE.
