U.S. House Passes Version Of Perkins Reauthorization
The U.S. House of Representatives last week approved a reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act.
The Perkins Act was last reauthorized in 2006, and the proposed reauthorization bill makes several notable changes to existing law. Among them: a new definition of students classified as "concentrators" in career and technical education and a new grant program that would award money to programs that align CTE with states' workforce needs.
The Perkins Act affects more than 11 million students. The Senate has yet to act on its version.
