Steve Pines, who for more than a decade has served as the executive director of the Education Industry Association, a voice for commercial vendors working in schools, is retiring and will resign from that position later this year.

The Vienna, Va.-based association represents about 190 dues-paying companies in educational technology, tutoring, test preparation, and private and charter school operations, among other sectors.

Before joining the EIA, Mr. Pines, 62, was a vice president at Sylvan Learning Systems Inc.
