Common Core Influencing District Buying, Survey Says
Research conducted by MDR, a company that analyzes the K-12 market, found that 68 percent of school systems plan to buy instructional materials that address the Common Core State Standards.
Three-quarters of districts said they hope to obtain free materials from the two main testing consortia. And 66 percent plan to use internal resources to create materials addressing the standards. The survey also found that 58 percent of districts plan to repurpose existing materials.
Questions remain about whether school systems would have made those purchases anyway, as part of their regular cycle of updating materials, and whether those materials are actually aligned with the common core.
