Delaware students' test scores slip
DOVER, Del. (AP) — A year after Delaware students made double-digit gains, this year's standardized test scores plateaued or fell slightly.
State education officials unveiled Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System results Thursday. All public school students take the computerized test in 3rd through 10th grades.
Officials say 72 percent of students tested proficient in reading and 70 percent tested proficient in math. That's a drop from last year when 73 percent of students tested proficient in reading and math. Last year's scored were a sharp increase over 2011, when 61 percent of students tested proficient in reading and 62 percent in math.
Science scores have held steady at about 42 percent, while social studies scores rose slightly.
Parents should soon receive a report explaining their students' scores.
