• A story in the Dec. 19, 2007, issue of Education Week incorrectly reported that New York state had mandated the teaching of social and emotional skills. It should have said the state legislature directed education and mental-health officials to develop voluntary guidelines for teaching students social and emotional skills this year.

• A map accompanying an In Perspective story on “growth models” and the accountability debate in the same issue incorrectly labeled the locations of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
