• An article in the June 6, 2007, issue of Education Week misstated the change in total education spending for next year approved by Alaska legislators during their recent session. The education budget will fall to $953 million in fiscal 2008 from $955 million in fiscal 2007, although per-pupil spending is projected to rise slightly because of a small decline in student enrollment, according to the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development.

• A front-page photo caption in the June 13 issue misspelled the name of a Chinese math teacher. Her name is Zhao Jing.
