Some states are taking significant steps to smooth the transition between high school and post-secondary education and careers, concludes a report.

The report—produced by the Community College Research Center, a New York City-based consortium of community college researchers—highlights Florida’s decision, for instance, to allow high school students to take classes for high school credit at technical colleges if they maintain a 2.0 grade-point- average or at 4-year colleges or universities if they have a 3.0 GPA. But it also notes that states still must work to align career technical education with high school academic courses and provide incentives for employers to help students make the transition to the labor market.
