Henry M. Morris
Henry M. Morris, who was considered the father of the modern creation-science movement, died Feb. 25. He was 87 and had suffered a series of strokes.
Mr. Morris was the president of the Institute for Creation Research, based in Santee, Calif., which he founded in 1970. He was the author of more than 60 books, most of which criticized the theory of evolution and argued in favor of creationism, which holds that a divine being created Earth and all life forms.
His books have been the basis for many attempts to teach creationism or similar theories, such as intelligent design, in public schools.
