One-fifth of K-12 students receive some type of school-supported mental-health services during the school year, according to a national survey by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

The survey covers a range of concerns, from relatively mild and common problems such as difficulty adjusting to a new school to more significant problems, such as bullying and psychiatric and developmental disorders.
