John Falco plans to step down as the superintendent of the 9,300-student Schenectady school district in upstate New York to become the director of the Institute for New Era Educational Leadership and Innovation, based at the College of St. Rose in Albany, N.Y.
Mr. Falco, 56, has been Schenectady’s superintendent since 2000 and was a deputy superintendent in the district for six years. His last day as superintendent will be Jan. 2. Assistant Superintendent Eric Ely has been named to replace him.
The newly established Institute for New Era Educational Leadership and Innovation provides training and support for local school leaders.
