The 2005 edition of Education Week’s annual Quality Counts report, published Jan. 6, included incorrect information in the "Resources: Spending" table on Pages 102-103. Data representing the percent of students in districts spending at or above various benchmarks, and the spending index, were calculated incorrectly when weighted district enrollment was factored into the analysis twice. Correct data are available online.
A story on state teacher standards in the Jan. 5 issue of Education Week ("States Criticized on Standards for Veteran Teachers") cited the wrong location for the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future. It is based in Washington. In trying to correct that information in the Feb. 2 issue, the newspaper inadvertently gave a wrong location for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. It is in Arlington, Va.
