North Carolina Gov. James B. Hunt Jr. has been elected to the board of trustees of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Mr. Hunt, 63, has been active on education issues and is a founder and the chairman of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

The Carnegie Corporation is a major contributor to projects in education, including support for special reports in Education Week.

Amy Berk Anderson

Amy Berk Anderson and John L. Myers have been selected as the co- directors of the National Association of Charter School Authorizers.

John L. Myers

The Denver- based group provides support to agencies and organizations charged with sponsoring the largely independent public schools around the country.

Ms. Anderson, 31, has worked as a consultant on charter school issues and founded a 168-student charter school, the Odyssey School, in Denver. Mr. Myers, 49, is a partner in a Denver-based education consulting firm, Augenblick & Myers.

Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning, or PENCIL, has named Ruth Cohen as its president and Lisa Belzberg as the chairwoman of its board of directors. The nonprofit organization coordinates civic involvement in New York City public schools.

Ms. Cohen, 41, previously served as PENCIL’s executive director. Ms. Belzberg, 38, founded the group in 1995.

Darrell Rud

Darrell Rud is the new president-elect of the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

Mr. Rud, 52, is the principal of the 300-student Garfield Elementary School in Billings, Mont.
