Marion Canedo

The Buffalo, N.Y., board of education has unanimously elected 31-year veteran teacher and former New York State Teacher of the Year Marion Canedo to serve as the interim superintendent of the 47,000-student Buffalo public schools.

The board intends to continue a national search for a permanent replacement.


Lois Adams-Rogers

Lois Adams-Rodgers has been tapped to serve as the acting deputy commissioner of the bureau of management-support services by the Kentucky Department of Education.

Ms. Adams-Rodgers, 53, will oversee offices responsible for school finance, transportation, facilities, and technology.


Darcy A. Olsen

Darcy A. Olsen has been named the director of education and child policy at the Cato Institute, a Washington think tank, where she will explore private initiatives to strengthen the independent education system.

Ms. Olsen, 28, previously worked as an entitlements-policy analyst at the institute.


David F. Walker

David F. Walker is the new president and chief executive officer of the Parents as Teachers National Center Inc., an international nonprofit organization based in St. Louis, that provides early-childhood parent education and family- support programs.

Mr. Walker, 53, formerly served as the executive director of the North Carolina Partnership for Children, or Smart Start, program.
