The 28-year-old high school teacher pleaded no contest in May to a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for having sex with a 16-year-old female student. He was sentenced to 18 months’ probation and 500 hours of community service.

Douglas, Ariz.

In July, the 45-year-old educator was sentenced to 180 days in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual misconduct for giving two female students cash and gifts in exchange for sex.

In September, the 38-year-old teacher pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge involving allegations that he fondled three boys he met in school, ages 12 and 13, during a Bible-study class he led at a local church. He is scheduled to be sentenced this week.

Brian Lepley

Pahrump, Nev.

Mr. Lepley, 33, was sentenced to life in prison this year for sexually assaulting and trying to transmit the AIDS virus to two boys, ages 16 and 18. Mr. Lepley met one of the boys at the high school where he taught.

Mary Kay LeTourneau

Ms. LeTourneau pleaded guilty last year to raping a 13-year-old former student she had met while teaching his 2nd grade class. She is serving a seven-year sentence. The 36-year-old teacher has had two daughters fathered by the boy, who is now 15.

Yonkers, N.Y.

The 53-year-old teacher was convicted in November of molesting three male students. He is scheduled to be sentenced in February.

After being convicted of having sex with a 15-year-old female student, the 31-year-old teacher was sentenced in September to seven years in prison.

Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

The 46-year-old teacher pleaded guilty in February to molesting several male students over a period of 10 years. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Eva E. Summerlin

Lake Wales, Fla.

Ms. Summerlin, 43, was convicted in June of having sex with a male special-needs student, who was 16 at the time. She was sentenced to five years’ probation.
