An article on textbook funding in the Feb. 19 issue of Education Week misstated the number of classes that students at Clara Barton High School in New York City take each year. They take six classes each term.
The “Take Note” column in the same issue incorrectly listed the price of a Fatal Vision alcohol education kit. The price is $595.
Clarifications
A picture caption in the Feb. 26 issue of Education Week implied that 11,000 AmeriCorps volunteers were serving in President Clinton’s America Reads Challenge. Although some members are already tutoring students, Mr. Clinton wants to add 11,000 AmeriCorps recruits to help coordinate the reading program, which has yet to begin.
A news brief in the same issue suggested that DuPage County, Ill., is a single school district. There are 43 districts in the county; all of the districts with high schools are taking part in a new safe schools program.
